Introduction
Welcome to EMR!
Who is Professor Click? I am a lot of things. One thing I certainly am is your instructor this upcoming semester, and I genuinely look forward to our time together. In addition to being an EMT, I am also a lawyer, a former high school teacher, a residential construction builder and designer, a photographer, and a parent of two teenagers.
That being said, what we do is not exactly the same as who we are, is it? Although our course will focus on what you will be doing in your future occupation, I will often remind you to never lose track of who you are in the process. My hope is that this course will teach you to always maintain your humanity, no matter what you might witness on a scene of any 911 call.
Course Description
This course will introduce you to anatomy and physiology as it relates to common medical emergencies and treatments. This fundamental understanding of the human body will help you prepare for your EMT program even if you have no background in science. More specifically, we will cover the following seven topics:

- Introduction to Anatomy and Physiology
- Respiratory/Pulmonary System: Anatomy, Physiology, and Pathophysiology
- Circulatory/Cardiovascular System: Anatomy, Physiology, and Pathophysiology

Other Relevant Course Information
There will be Live Zoom meetings every week during scheduled class time. Attendance is mandatory, so please make every effort to be present and on time. Points will be deducted if you miss more than 4 hours of class.
Furthermore, there will be a lot of group work, so your ability and willingness to be on camera while with your group will be crucial. I will not be recording our meetings to help maintain privacy. However, all of EMS is a team effort, so you will need to learn to work as a team, which means you will need to be fully present for your teammates.
