Welcome to Water 096 - Welding and License Certification Preparation.  My name is Tim Baber, and I will be your instructor for the next 16-weeks.  Your success in this course is my ultimate goal. Course Description

Presents practical applications and fundamental concepts to prepare students for the Los Angeles City Department of Building and Safety Department Examination (written) for structural steel.

What to Expect in this Course

The weekly lecture portions of this class will be held via Zoom on Thursday evenings starting at 4:40pm. Additionally, you will need to use Canvas to complete and/or turn in assignments each week. If you would like to join a test meeting in Zoom to make sure you are able to join meetings, go to www.zoom.us/test.

There will be weekly homework assignments designed to help you learn and practice the concepts covered in class. Homework assignments are graded based on completion and correctness.

Types of Assessments

 Your final grade will be based on a variety of assignments including homework, quizzes (taken in Canvas), and welded projects. The final exam is cumulative.

In addition to the required AWS D1.1:2020 codebook, you will need to bring an electronic device for the purposes of access quizzes and exams held during and/or outside of class.

Often the pressure on our students is very strong, involving academic commitments, relationships, outside jobs and family pressure to name a few. The staff and faculty of College of the Canyons are here to see you succeed academically and care about your emotional and physical health. You can learn more about the broad range of confidential student services, including counseling and mental health services available on campus by visiting the Student Health & Wellness Center in the Student Services Building (across from the bookstore).
