Introduction
Welcome to Sociology 103, Intimate Families and Relationships, the course that studies relationships, dating, love, sex, mate selection, marriage, having and raising children, and divorce. The course is structured around useful information, discussion, and analysis that gives perspective to those cultural norms, values, beliefs, and social factors that support or hinder people getting into and staying in meaningful relationships. This being a sociology class, we will address cultural and structural elements that contribute to interpersonal relationships. We will also discuss psychological and popular culture notions as well. Through interactions via discussion boards, you will also get a deeper sense of insights that you, having experiences or thoughts on relationships, could constructively share with one another. This class is for those of you who are in a relationship, between a relationship, or exploring becoming a marriage and family counselor or therapist. So, let's get started.
