Communication Internship

Position: Dina Cervantes for Assembly 2020 has a Communications Internship available for immediate hire.
Classification: Classification: Temporary , At will; Part Time 15-25 hours per week
Reports to: Campaign Manager, Campaign Leadership
Position Start: Immediately
Work Schedule: TBD, As agreed upon, 15-25 hours per week
Compensation: Non-paid internship. Potential school credit.
Organizational Mission: A former “at-risk youth” Dina Cervantes is a candidate for State Assembly to Represent CA District 38. Our mission is to create change at a local grassroots level by electing Dina Cervantes to the State Assembly. Dina is a former community college student and an alumni of Cal State Northridge.
Position Purpose: The Communications Interns will be an integral part of the Dina For Assembly 2020 team. We are working with dynamic, new ways, and tools to communicate with voters via email, media and social media. Under supervision, the Communications Interns are responsible for executing communications objectives. Interns must understand and enjoy working with a wide variety of communication mediums. This is a great opportunity to be part of a communications team in a social/political atmosphere.

Duties and Responsibilities Under Supervision:
● Execute a social media content calendar that includes regular posts for various social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and others).
● Support campaign promotion and campaign advocacy with the development of communication tools such as social media posts and templates, event flyers, one-page information documents, and other tools as needed.
● Track and produce analysis reports on emails and social media postings, usage and other items to support campaign efforts. Create and input data and information for communications purposes.
● Monitor local, regional, state and national media
● Assist in the development of media outreach strategies and tactics
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including print, email, phone, and social media.
● Familiarity with the use of Google Suite, Canva or other online design tools.

Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, modified or changed at any time at Campaign Leadership discretion. Changes may be made formally, informally either verbally or in writing.

Education/Experience/Skills
● Relevant experience is desired
● Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with teams
● Bilingual skills a plus but not necessary
● No prior campaign experience is necessary. We will work with you to apply the skills you already have.

Political Campaign Internship

Position Description: This position serves as an instrumental resource by providing a high level of administrative services to the team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, energetic individual to contribute directly to the needs of local political campaign and gain valuable experience. Position responsibilities include directly supporting the campaign staff with various important administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will possess: strong Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills; excellent communication and organizational skills; strong ability to prioritize and meet deadlines; and a "can-do" attitude with a team player spirit.
Duties and Responsibilities:
● Work with a team to execute direct voter contact program.
● Support in organizing and staffing of campaign events.
● Represent the campaign in community outreach as requested.
● Volunteer outreach and training.
● Candidate support and staffing as requested.

Policy & Research Internship

Classification: Classification: Temporary , At will; Part Time 15-25 hours per week
Reports to: Campaign Manager, Campaign Leadership
Position Start: Immediately
Work Schedule: TBD, As agreed upon, 15-25 hours per week
Compensation: Non-paid internship. Potential school credit.

Position Purpose: We need help conducting detailed research to inform and direct our office’s policy recommendations. The Policy & Research intern will be an essential player to the team in matters relating to research as it relates issues important but not limited to CA District 38 and campaign strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities:
● Research issues & policy matters as it pertains to the district, state and campaign strategy.
● Supporting campaigns with research to make our voter outreach and mobilization efforts more effective. Examples of such a project might include reports on townships within the district, analysis of demographic data to aid in targeted messaging, research of state issue areas and positions.
● Other research projects to be determined and assigned throughout the course of the campaign.
