Business Services oversees the planning, coordination and administration of all major aspects of financial and business operations for the District, including: Budget Development, Contracts, Procurement and Risk Management, Fiscal Services, Grants and Categorical Accounting Services and Payroll Services. Fiscal oversight is also provided for other areas including Facilities and Capital Construction Projects, Associated Student Government, Financial Aid, and Foundation Accounting. Contract administration for the Bookstore and Food Services is also handled by Business Services.
In addition, policy/regulatory analysis, compliance and the related recommendations have become a major focus for Business Services. As State funding becomes more complicated, regular analysis of formulas, allocations and revenue deferrals is critical to ensure accurate projections for future budget planning. Advocacy efforts on behalf of the district are also an important function as is analyzing recent and pending legislation impacting education and/or funding.
