College of the Canyons seeks a part-time, non‐tenured track Head Women’s Basketball Coach to lead the women’s basketball program and to teach fall, spring, and summer term classes. The successful candidate will report to the Dean of Kinesiology, Physical Education & Athletics and the Athletic Director and will be responsible for all aspects of planning, managing, and directing a successful Community College basketball program.

QUALIFICATIONS

Possession of an unexpired California Community College Instructor Credential in coaching

OR- Any bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of full-time equivalent professional experience directly related to the faculty member’s teaching assignment or the equivalent;

OR- Any associate degree and six (6) years of professional experience directly related to the faculty member’s teaching assignment or the equivalent.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Responsible for the management of all phases of the women's basketball program which include; recruiting, training, practicing, competition, scheduling, game-day preparation, fundraising, travel, and adhering to and enforcement of all policies and procedures of the CCCAA, WSC, and College of the Canyons.
  • Provides leadership and instruction in the academic, athletic, and personal development of the student athletes.
  • Promotes the academic progress of the student athletes by working closely with the counseling staff.
  • Works collaboratively in the selection, purchase, and maintenance of the team equipment and supplies.
  • Supports the sports medicine staff to ensure student athlete welfare.
  • Provides daily work direction to assistant coaches and promote an atmosphere of compliance.
  • Assists athletes in academic and athletic preparation for transfer to four-year colleges.
  • Promotes College of the Canyons athletics in the community and develops and maintains a close working professional relationship with local high school coaches.
  • Maintains office hours and participates in department, division, and college committees and governance.
  • Participates in and implements departmental and college program reviews.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Assignments may include Monday through Friday (day and evening), as well as Saturday classes.

The successful candidate will be hired as an adjunct professor and be assigned a 10 TLU class load in the Fall and Spring and a 9 TLU class load in the Summer paid at the contractual hourly rate ($67.25-$84.29). This position will also receive an annual stipend in the amount of $9,000.

Positions are open until filled. The above position represents the anticipated need for the upcoming semester(s) or the applicant pool. Qualified applicants who successfully complete the selection and interview process will be placed in the applicant pool and may be eligible for adjunct employment with the District anytime within the next 36 months.
