Registration FAQs

When is my registration date and time?

To check your registration date and time, you may log into your student account via My Canyons. Once you log in, select the "My Registration Time" link under the Registration menu on the left hand side of the page.

Why don't I have a registration date and time?

Registration dates are assigned on or around the following dates:

Summer: February 1

Fall: April 15

Winter: September 1

Spring: October 1

For specific dates please refer to the student calendar. We will post your day and time to register on your My Canyons account. If you do not have a registration date for the term after that time, please contact the Admissions and Records office.

I missed my registration date and time. What do I do now?

Our registration system is set up so that you may enter the registration system anytime beginning on or after your assigned registration date and time. If you missed your date and time, you may simply log into your student account via My Canyons.

I should have an earlier registration date and time. How are registration dates and times determined?

Registration dates and times are automatically assigned on the dates above based on your status with the college. We compute how many units have been completed, including the units for which you are currently enrolled, your academic standing, and if you are part of a special program at College of the Canyons. Once that information is determined, a registration date is assigned to you on the dates listed above.

Why do I have a later date and time if I have more than 100 degree applicable units?

Your registration date and time is based only on how many units you have completed at College of the Canyons; this does not include transfer units. If you have completed more than 100 degree applicable units, you will be placed back on the lowest continuing registration priority. This was established by the state of California in law: SB 1456.

What are the enrollment priorities and how is it determined that I fall into a particular category?

Our enrollment priority system is established by Board Policy 5055. For a full explanation of how enrollment priorities are determined, please visit our enrollment priorities webpage.

When do I have to pay for my classes?

Payment for classes is due at the time of registration. You are responsible for dropping your classes if you no longer plan to attend. If you do not attend the first day of class, you may be dropped by the instructor and your seat may be given to another student. Be sure to follow through with deadlines and policies accessible in the college catalog. Please check the Student Business Office for more information on fees.

What are "Special Programs" and why can't I register on that day?

Special programs are for those students who are part of one of the following groups: Veterans, Foster Youth, Homeless (pursuant to Ed. Code section 66025.9), EOPS, AAC, and CalWorks. If you do not belong to one of these groups, you do not receive the special programs priority registration date and time.

What is a high unit program?

A high unit program is defined as a degree or certificate that requires 40 or more units in the major area.

I am an Honors student and/or belong to the President's Honors List. Why don't I have an earlier registration date and time?

Being an Honors student or belonging to the President's Honors List is not included in the determination of registration date and times.

I am graduating this semester. Why don't I have an earlier registration date and time?

Students who have petitioned to graduate may receive an earlier registration date. This priority will be given once to a student and must be identified prior to the Graduation Petition Deadline found in the student college calendar.
