Participation

  • Complete Umoja application and media release form.
  • Attend mandatory Orientation or Umoja Welcome Event each academic year.
  • Enroll in at least one Umoja-supported or Umoja-dedicated course, such as English C1000 and/or Counseling 150.
  • Meet with a designated Umoja counselor for academic planning and support.
  • Participate in at least one Umoja-sponsored workshop or activity per semester, such as a campus event, cultural enrichment activity, or field trip.
  • Remain actively enrolled at College of the Canyons. 

Umoja Courses

  • Umoja students are encouraged to enroll in courses taught by faculty trained in Umoja's culturally relevant and student-centered approach.
  • These courses focus on community building, identity affirmation, and academic success.
  • All Umoja-dedicated courses are UC/CSU transferable.

Village & Community

  • Students have access to the Umoja Village, which is a dedicated space on campus for studying, support, and community connection. (Village space coming soon!)
  • Regular engagement with the Umoja team and fellow students helps build a strong sense of belonging and community.
