Students who attend any one of these will get a one-semester education plan and it will meet the advisement part of the matriculation steps.
- Getting Started Workshop – Best for students who want a general overview of COC.
- Pre-Nursing Advisement Workshop – Best for students who are interested in COC’s nursing program.
- Health Professions Workshop – Best for students who are interested in any of COC’s Health Professions programs (Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Physical Therapy Assistant, etc.)
- Choose Your Major Workshop – Best for students who are undecided or not sure about their major and/or career goals
Academic Standing
Courses and Workshops
We are committed to supporting you in your return to good academic and/or progress standing by having you participate in the appropriate academic standing intervention to clear your registration hold. After completing a course or group workshop, your registration hold will be released by the end of the next business day and you will be able to register for classes on your assigned registration date and time. There are no waitlists for workshops.
Students on academic and/or progress notice (A1 / P1), please register for the free Noncredit Counseling 015 class (NC.COUN-015) - Upgrade to Good Academic Standing. The course is listed in the schedule of classes under Noncredit Counseling.

Students on academic and/or progress extended notice (A2 / P2), please sign-up for an Academic Recovery Workshop. Any workshop available for the foreseeable future will be delivered online. Once you sign up for a workshop you will receive the Zoom invitation prior to your workshop date and time. The email will be sent to your COC email.

Health Professions Programs Workshops
These workshops will provide you with an overview of the various programs offered, including which classes to take in order to prepare for the application process for the programs. They will also go into details about how to make yourself as competitive as possible, take advantage of volunteer or internship opportunities, study guide information, and your grades. We will also review the common application timelines for different programs.

Transfer Workshops
Transfer workshops support students at different stages of the transfer process, from learning the basics of transfer planning to completing CSU and UC applications. Topics include transfer requirements and timelines, CSU and UC pathways, Transfer Success Pathway (TSP), UC applications, Personal Insight Questions (PIQs), and strategies for preparing a complete transfer application.
Pathway to Law School Workshop
Pathway to Law School is a California Community College Initiative in partnership with six California law schools to increase diversity in the legal profession. The purpose of the Program is to provide a pathway to a law school education for students whose post-secondary education begins at the community college level.
