"Getting Started" Workshop
This workshop designed for NEW STUDENTS with or without external transcripts. The last 30 minutes is an open lab for questions and/or completion of a first-semester education plan.
This is not the appropriate workshop for students who are only applying to our COC health professions (nursing, MLT, etc.).
The workshop is being offered at both campuses:
CANYON COUNTRY CAMPUS - Room CCSS 122 (1st floor of the Student Services Building), every Wednesday from 1:00pm-3:30pm.
VALENCIA CAMPUS - Room CHCS 212 (2nd floor of Canyons Hall), every Tuesday from 2:00pm-4:30pm.
"Choose Your Major" Workshop
The Choose Your Major workshop can help any student feeling unsure of their college major or career pathway. We will introduce the Career Exploration process, discuss how to interpret career assessment results, and help students identify courses that could get them started on the right pathway!

Academic Standing
Courses and Workshops
We are committed to supporting you in your return to good standing by having you participate in the appropriate academic standing intervention to clear your registration hold. After completing a course or workshop, your registration hold will be released by the end of the next business day and you will be able to register for classes on your assigned registration date and time. There are no waitlists for workshops.
Students on academic and/or progress probation (A1 / P1), please register for the NC.COUNS-015 - Upgrade to Good Academic Standing non-credit course. Enrollment in this course requires registering for NC.COUNS-015. The course is listed in the schedule of classes under the Noncredit Counseling section.

Students on academic and/or progress subject to dismissal (A2 / P2), please sign-up for an Academic Recovery Workshop. Any courses and workshops available for the foreseeable future will be delivered online. Once you sign up for a workshop a counselor will email you the Zoom invitation prior to your workshop date and time. The invitation will be sent to your COC email.

Adult Reentry Alliance
The Adult Reentry Alliance offers workshops that provide adult-reentry students information on getting started at COC, including completion of matriculation steps, a review of Counseling services, how to book a Counseling appointment, exploration of a career timeline, and information on future workshop topics.

Honors
This workshop is design for students who are part of the Honors Program or would like to learn more about the Honors Program. We will review the specific Honors Program requirements and the Honors Contract. We will also discuss the requirements and benefits of TAP (Transfer Alliance Program). The Transfer Alliance Program increases you chances of admission to UCLA if you will be applying for majors under The College.
Health Professions Workshops
These workshops will provide you with an overview of the various programs offered, including which classes to take in order to prepare for the application process for the programs. They will also go into details about how to make yourself as competitive as possible, take advantage of volunteer or internship opportunities, study guide information, and your grades. We will also review the common application timelines for different programs.

Pathway to Law School Workshop
Pathway to Law School is a California Community College Initiative in partnership with six California law schools to increase diversity in the legal profession. The purpose of the Program is to provide a pathway to a law school education for students whose post-secondary education begins at the community college level. Project SOL
Project SOL is dedicated to supporting students pursuing majors and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields. The goal of this program is to increase the number of Latino/a/X students completing degrees in STEM; with a mission of providing opportunities that nurture aspirations, foster identity, and build a strong sense of community within the STEM fields.
