Course Description

The course material explores many artistic and cultural movements worldwide, spanning thousands of years of history. ART 100 will introduce various artworks, historical time periods, geographic locations, and visual arts terminology. This course will also provide you with the skills to analyze and interpret works of art.

What to Expect in this Course

  • You will have access to the Canvas course site the first day of the semester.
  • Course content will consist of readings, lectures, PowerPoint presentations, video clips, and online articles.
  • We will spend a great deal of time analyzing and writing about great works of art. Each student will be expected to communicate information about an artwork based upon visual analysis. Such information may include the time and place a particular artwork was created, artist identification, use of materials and techniques, and the object's context.
