Introduction
Welcome to our class. My name is Professor Chung. I look forward to learning with you this semester at College of the Canyons.
The course will be available on COC’s Canvas course management system at 7:00 AM beginning on the first day of the course.
Be sure to log in and post to the Introduction Roll Call Discussion Board by the listed deadline, otherwise, you will be dropped from this course.
Course Description
This course introduces the theoretical and practical issues related to conducting business via the Internet. Topics include: evolving e-business models, Web-based technologies, value chains, electronic marketing, payment systems, security, ethics, legal, international, and cross-cultural issues. Familiarity with navigating the Internet is assumed.
What to Expect in this Course
You will be expected to read the chapter(s) prior to the week of the discussion and assignments for the specific chapter(s). You will be required to participate on a weekly basis.
Types of Assessments
8 week course - There will be One (1) exam for this class consisting of multiple-choice questions.
16 week course - There will be two (2) exams for this class consisting of multiple-choice questions.

Team Project
You will have the opportunity to work in a team on a project in our online forum. Additional information will be provided.
Student Learning Assessment
A written assignment will be included towards the end of the semester to assess the student’s grasp of the Student Learning Outcomes listed at the beginning of the syllabus. It will be in the form of a business case analysis.

The Counseling Department offers appointments online. You can schedule an appointment by visiting the Online Counseling website. Counselors can help you map out a plan to reach your educational goals as well as advise you on course selection and registration.
Management of Stress and Mental Health
Often the pressure on our students is very strong, involving academic commitments, relationships, outside jobs and family pressure to name a few. The staff and faculty of College of the Canyons are here to see you succeed academically and care about your emotional and physical health. You can learn more about the broad range of confidential student services, including counseling and mental health services available on campus by visiting the Student Health & Wellness Center in the Student Services Building (across from the bookstore). At the Canyon Country Campus the Health Center will be in the new Student Services Building.
Also, the National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline number is now 988. All students at COC are encouraged to enter that phone number in their cells. You can call it when you, or someone you know, is having thoughts of suicide or is in severe distress.
You can also now use the Crisis Text Line: Just text "Courage" to 741741. Someone will get back to you immediately. Its free, 24/7, and confidential.
Veterans Resource Center
The College of the Canyons Veterans Resource Center is a department within the Student Services Division at the college, created to help veterans and veteran dependents with applying to College of the Canyons, enrolling in classes, and requesting VA Education or Vocational Benefits.
