CAWT 156 - Microsoft Excel II - Janet English
|Course:||Microsoft Excel II|
My name is Janet English, and I will be your guide for this learning experience. I have been with College of the Canyons for twenty years. I look forward to getting to know each of you throughout the semester.
In this day and age, we are fortunate to be able to offer online and hybrid education courses in order to accommodate so many of you who may not have the time or resources to always attend classes on campus due to modern societal pressures, including professional obligations, familial responsibilities, and financial or health concerns. It should not, however, be assumed that an online or hybrid education class is in any way easier than an on-campus class. In fact, just the opposite may be true since, to be successful, students in online and hybrid classes must rely more on their own resourcefulness, discipline, good time management and study habits, as well as finding within themselves the means to remain motivated.
This course is either 100% online or a hybrid course.
All correspondence will be carried out using the Inbox in Canvas, Discussion Boards, and email. Students are expected to log in to Canvas often and to read all posted Announcements and Pages as directed.
100% online courses will have no scheduled on-campus meetings. However, there will be non mandatory Zoom lectures for each module, according to the schedule posted on Canvas and in your Weekly Assignment Schedule.
Hybrid courses will meet in the classroom for a specified number of times. A Schedule Announcement will be sent out prior to the first day of the semester. Should you realize that you cannot meet on-ground on any specified day, you must send me a Message via Canvas Inbox. In addition, there will be non mandatory Zoom lectures for modules not reviewed during on-campus meetings, according to the schedule posted on Canvas and in your Weekly Assignment Schedule.
For either online or hybrid courses, a recording of the Zoom lectures will be provided on Canvas for students to review. In addition, there will be one non mandatory open lab Zoom scheduled per week where students may get help with their assignments. One-on-One Zoom Meetings may also be available, by appointment
Whether your course is a hybrid or online format, my hope is to get to know each of you the same as if we interacted weekly face-to-face in a classroom.
Provides a continuation of CAWT-155, presenting a comprehensive overview of advanced features of Microsoft Excel, including templates, SmartArt images, Pivot table reports, Pivot chart reports, formula auditing, data validation, and the use of Macros and Visual Basic for applications. Prepares students to take the MOS exam in Excel.
Students will work on a variety of interesting productivity exercises that simulate those projects encountered in a real, modern office environment. Students will be able to assess their progress by using the Cengage Skills Assessment Manager SAM (through MindTap), an engaging and interactive online simulator that transforms students into Microsoft Excel concept masters. SAM (through MindTap) is not only powerful and effective, but it is also fun to use.
All student assignments will be submitted on Canvas or submitted directly to the MindTap website through the individual assignment links in each module on Canvas.
This course requires proficiency with the operating system of your computer, computer file management, the Internet, a browser (Google Chrome), and the ability to send e-mail.
