Introduction
Welcome to CONST-103 – Print Reading for Construction. In this course you will practice reading various types of construction drawings and specifications in order to become more proficient at extracting and interpreting information used to build a residential or commercial structure.
Course Description
Presents reading, interpreting, analyzing, and visualizing construction drawings and specifications prepared by architects and engineers, emphasizing reading and extracting information from detailed drawings for both residential and commercial construction.
What to Expect in this Course
CONST-103 is a 3 unit, full semester (16 week) course that meets once a week for 3 hours Via Canvas/Zoom. Each class meeting will consist of a lecture and discussion of the current week’s chapter, followed by an in-class assignment, and homework assignment which will be due the following week. We will be covering one chapter per week in this course.
Types of Assessments
This course will be assessed with in-class assignments, homework, quizzes, and exams.

Management of Stress and Mental Health
Often the pressure on our students is very strong, involving academic commitments, relationships, outside jobs and family pressure to name a few. The staff and faculty of College of the Canyons are here to see you succeed academically and care about your emotional and physical health. You can learn more about the broad range of confidential student services, including counseling and mental health services available on campus by visiting the Student Health & Wellness Center in the Student Services Building (across from the bookstore). At the Canyon Country Campus the Health Center will be in the new Student Services Building.
Also, the National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline number is now 988. All students at COC are encouraged to enter that phone number in their cells. You can call it when you, or someone you know, is having thoughts of suicide or is in severe distress.

Veterans Resource Center
