This class is offered only on a Pass/No-Pass basis and not for a letter grade. It is non-transferable to a university and can be repeated for an unlimited amount of time.

I am excited to have you in my class and I am here to help support you. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about this class.

Course Description

Provides students with career exploration techniques. Emphasis is placed on selecting a career based on self-examination of interests, values, abilities, and personality through assessment inventories, skill exercises, and career research.

Course Length: 1 week (Monday-Saturday)

What to Expect in this Course

This is a 100% ONLINE course with no in-person meetings required. It is only 1 week long. In this class, it is expected that you complete all assignments online (including but not limited to lectures, videos, discussions, and quizzes) using COC’s course management system, CANVAS.

In order to participate in this class, you must have access to a computer, internet services, and a web cam or scanner. We will be utilizing photo/video devices and/or online audio devices so that you can post recordings, videos, and/or photos as part of your assignments when needed. All communication is through CANVAS announcements, email, and/or discussion boards.

First Day of Class:

You will be required to login by 11:59 p.m. on Monday of the first week of class and complete an assignment to introduce yourself to the class. Failure to login by this time and complete the discussion board post will result in being dropped from the course.

**If you are on the “waitlist” and are still interested in adding the class, please email me on the first day of class. If space is available, I will give you an add code to register for the course. I am unable to add you to the course before the first day of class. Because this course is accelerated, I cannot add students after the add/drop deadline regardless if you were on the waitlist.

During the term, you will have one assignment due each day, including but not limited to:
• Student-lead discussion posts: You will interact through online discussions with classmates related to the current lesson being discussed.
• Individual homework assignments: You will complete assignments that require online research and reporting your career assessment results.
