Welcome to KPEA 102, Running for Fitness! My name is Chris Cota and I will be your instructor for the next 16 weeks in this completely online course. There will be zero in-person meetings in this class. Please review the following information and feel free to email me if you have questions.
College of the Canyons uses a learning management system called CANVAS. You can login to Canvas with the following link: https://coc.instructure.com/login/canvas.
This course is participation in a progressive program of running and walking as applied to enjoyment, health, and fitness. Topics will include but not limited to: fitness components, safety, injury prevention, and training systems.
What to Expect in this Course
This course will have regular weekly assignments due, two discussion forums, as well as readings, videos, and course materials. The final exam will be a written assignment and turned in online through Canvas. You will need to have access to a fitness app on your phone, or a smartwatch. Whether you are a novice, intermediate, or advanced runner, each student will start at their own level.

This course can be accessed on the first day of class via Canvas at https://coc.instructure.com. Log into Canvas using your CanyonsID single sign-on:
- CanyonsID Username is your COC student email address (Ex: email@example.com)
