Course Description

This course provides an overview of the history, philosophy, and practices of the legal profession, including paralegals, in the United States while introducing legal concepts, terms, and theories. We will focus on the professionals in the legal system, sources and classification of law, structure of the court system, civil litigation, torts, contract law, property law, family law, criminal law, and legal ethics. 

What to Expect in this Course

Read the chapter(s) prior to the class lecture for discussion and assignments for the specific chapter(s). This course requires a research paper on the legal profession and an assignment using the IRAC method based on a hypothetical case.

This course contains quizzes and exams, discussion boards, class activities, and assignments.
