Introduction

I am excited that you have decided to register for SIGN 205. Most of you know me, but if you do not, here’s a little bit about me. I have been using American Sign Language for most of my life. I started teaching the language in 1994. I started teaching interpreting/transliterating at the college level in 2005. I was a workshop leader for nearly a decade prior to my teaching experience. I have extensive experience with interpreting. Over the past 35 years, I have worked as a staff interpreter and an interpreter coordinator at the post-secondary level, obtained RID certification, created an interpreter training program, and taught at both the college and university levels. I’ve been a full-time professor at College of the Canyons since 2005. I enjoy teaching and assisting my students as they acquire interpreting skills and strategies. I truly want to my students to succeed. My office hours are always welcoming. By the end of the semester, you will acquire the knowledge and skills required for simultaneous transliteration.
