Bienvenidos al curso de literatura latinoamericana. El curso se imparte asincrónicamente, excepto las reuniones un día por semana que se dan por Zoom.  Leeremos textos literarios, veremos películas basadas en novelas y comentaremos de forma escrita y oral sobre las mismas. El curso se dará en castellano. 

Course Description

Surveys literature and culture of Latin America from 1492 to the present, including basic literary concepts and analysis of the four genres, narrative, essay, poetry, and drama within literary movements in Latin America. Taught in Spanish. CSU/UC 3 Credits. 

Leeremos una variedad de obras literarias y las analizaremos dentro en su contexto histórico y cultural. La clase se complementará con películas, videos, y textos en línea.  Se impartirá una clase por semana (asistencia obligatoria) de forma sincrónica los lunes, 5-7:25p.m.por Zoom.

What to Expect in this Course

Reading short-stories, short essays, poems and plays in Spanish.  Assignments include analytical questions, short-essays and writing activities.

Types of Assessments

Weekly quizzes and exams, written and oral assignments, and a final exam.

Computer with internet access. Make sure your microphone is working properly. Voice recording activities are an essential part of this course. Observation: Tablets, apps, and other mobile devices can be used to view or read content, and to complete some assignments, however there is required work that can only be performed on a computer.
