Inspire Scholars/NextUp supports current and former foster youth in their pursuit of higher education. You can support Inspire Scholars/NextUp students through monetary and non-monetary gifts. The Inspire Scholars/NextUp Program thanks you in advance for your generosity.
The following is a list of suggested NEW items to donate to Inspire Scholars/NextUp:
- Bottles of water and/or reusable water bottles
- Granola bars
- Backpacks
- Scantron 882-E
- 3 x 5 notecards
- Blue pens
- Mechanical pencils
- 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 subject spiral college ruled notebooks
- Composition books/graphing and regular
- Binders
- Tab dividers
- Pencil bag
- 2 pocket folders
- 100 or more sheets packages of paper/college ruled
Optional donation items:
- Gift cards for gas, local food merchants, grocery cards or Michael’s/Hobby Lobby for art supplies
- Mini staplers
- Sheet protectors
- Correction tape
- Academic planners (July-August)
- Shower towels/washcloths
- Personal care items: toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, combo body wash & shampoo, feminine hygiene products, socks, deodorant, flip-flops and washcloths

Gift-In-Kind Donations
These non-monetary gifts are an excellent way to support our students. Please consider donating items from the suggested list. Please request a Gift in Kind form for your tax credit by emailing dora.lozano@canyons.edu.
Cash Donations
Inspire Scholars has established two funds through the College of the Canyons Foundation: Inspire Scholars Scholarship Fund, awarded annually to a current/former foster youth; and the Inspire Scholars Special Funds Account which supports general activities for Inspire Scholars/NextUp students such as student events, school supplies, personal care items, snacks, meal cards and transportation cards.
Instructions for cash donations:
- Complete online form
- In the Donation Designation section of the online form, select "Other" in the drop-down box on the "Direct My Donations To" line
- Type "Inspire Scholars" in the box on the "Other Donation" line
- Complete all other fields that apply
- Submit
COC Employee Payroll Deduction
College of the Canyons employees can make monthly or one-time donation to the Inspire Scholars. Request a payroll deduction form via email inspirescholars@canyons.edu
