ESL 070 Reading, Writing and Grammar for Non-native Speakers - II


Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Write non-personal paragraphs at the high intermediate level in assigned modes with clearstructure, coherence, and limited errors.
  2. Respond to comprehension and analysis tasks of level-appropriate literary and non-literarytexts at the high intermediate level.

Course Objectives

  1.  Read a work of ction and/or a variety of short stories and identify key components of the texts
  2. Read, identify, and analyze key ideas and support from level-appropriate non-literary materials.
  3. Select and apply reading strategies for comprehension.
  4. Practice strategies for learning vocabulary.
  5. Respond accurately to questions by giving examples, describing, predicting, and inferring from the text.
  6. Create structured personal paragraphs in several modes with accurate intermediate-level grammar.
  7. Construct grammatically accurate, tone-appropriate emails, messages, letters to a college audience.
  8. Utilize learned grammatical structures accurately in exercises and then in expansion activities.
  9. Identify individual grammatical mistakes and correct them.
