Confirmed Case and Exposures

July 13, 2020

A member of the College of the Canyons community has been diagnosed with COVID-19. We received this information late in the day on Friday, July 10.

This person was last on campus on July 1. Since the individual was not on campus for 48 hours before symptoms developed, we do not believe anyone was exposed.  However, out of an abundance of caution, we conducted contact tracing and notified those people who may have come in contact with the affected individual.

We understand that some people may wish to know more about this case. We are balancing the concern that people feel with the need, by law, to respect the privacy of those diagnosed with COVID-19. To that end, we can’t provide any details that would serve to identify this individual.

We have notified the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health about this positive case.

The physical areas of the campus through which the individual passed are part of our regular cleaning regimen, and will undergo additional disinfection.

As new information about the virus and its impact on the college becomes available, we will provide updates to the campus community. In the meantime, we hope you are safe, and we thank you for remaining vigilant in following health and safety guidelines and doing your part to protect the health of others.
