Confirmed Case and Exposures
January 24, 2021
We are writing to provide notification that a member of the College of the Canyons community has been diagnosed with COVID-19. We received this information late Friday.
In the Early Childhood Education Center (ECE) at the Valencia campus, one employee tested positive. After conducting contact tracing, we determined that four other employees were exposed. These employees will self-quarantine for 14 days. At the recommendation of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, the ECE will close the classroom involved and plan to resume operations at the conclusion of the quarantine period. Parents of children in the affected classroom were notified.
As mentioned in earlier cases, we understand the desire to know more about this situation. However, we must balance the concern that we all have for our co-workers with privacy laws. With that in mind, we are not able to provide more detail that could identify these employees.
We have notified the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health about the positive cases.
For more information about COVID-19, we encourage you to visit the CDC website and review the Frequently Asked Questions.
