Cost of Attendance & Financial Need
Cost of attendance (COA) is the total estimated expenses for one academic year including enrollment fees, food and housing, books & supplies, transportation costs, loan fees, and personal expenses.
The Financial Aid Office will calculate how much financial aid you are eligible to receive based on your financial need. To determine your financial need, the Financial Aid Office will use the results of your FAFSA or CADAA and will subtract your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from your estimated educational costs, or cost of attendance (COA). The dollar amount remaining is your financial need. Your need will be funded with various federal and state programs, plus any other resources for which you are eligible.
Do you have special circumstances that create additional ongoing expenses beyond what is listed in your cost of attendance? If you have received the maximum amount of need-based awards, you may qualify to have those expenses added to your cost of attendance, potentially increasing your financial need.
