Financial Support

In-State Tuition for Undocumented Students

In order to pay in-state tuition, the college or university you are attending must determine that you are a California resident for tuition purposes, or that you meet the eligibility to be exempt from nonresident tuition through AB 540/AB 2000/SB 68. AB 540/AB 2000/ SB 68 are laws that provide in-state tuition benefits for undocumented and out-of-state students who attend or will attend a public college or university in California. Obtaining AB 540 status at a CA public college or university you attend opens the door to various types of financial aid through the California Dream Act Application: California College Promise Grant, California Promise Program, and Cal Grants. Please visit the following link to learn more: https://immigrantsrising.org/wp-content/uploads/Immigrants-Rising_Quick-Guide-to-College-Access.pdf

If you are considered a non resident for tuition purposes, you will pay approximately three times more than a resident student. In order to become exempt from your non-resident tuition at a California public college or university, you must complete a non-resident tuition exemption form, also known as an affidavit. Please connect with our office prior to submitting your AB 540 affadavit  for COC! We are more than happy to assist you with this process.

California College Promise Grant (CCPG)

The California College Promise Grant, formerly known as the Board of Governors Enrollment Fee Waiver (BOGW), waives enrollment fees for qualified students for the entire school year.
