Introduction

Hello everyone and welcome to Math 102X. My name is Chinh Tran and I will be your instructor for this course. Due to the pandemic we are currently facing, this course will be taught via Distance Learning. This means that we will have scheduled lectures and discussions on ZOOM. It is crucial for you to read everything carefully and make sure that you do not fall behind in the course. The online platform that we are using for this course is CANVAS. You can find information on how to login below. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Course Description

We will cover chapters 1 through 8 in the text. Topics will include right triangles, static and dynamic trigonometry, radians, trigonometric graphs, trigonometric identities, inverse trigonometric functions, trigonometric equations, vectors, complex numbers, polar coordinates, and other topics if time permits along with basic algebraic and geometric ideas, skills, and tools used in trigonometry and other STEM math courses.

What to Expect in this Course

Required Materials:

  •  Computer access with internet and Chrome as a browser, and able to enable Proctorio Chrome Extension
  •  Computer must have speakers, webcam, and microphone
  •  Basic or Scientific Calculator ( calculators on phones are not permitted for exams)

Types of Assessments

As stated before, this course is not 100% online. Exams will be taken remotely on Zoom and proctored by me. You will need to have your webcam turned on.

You will submit your homework and projects using the Canvas system.

Canvas

This course can be accessed on the first day of class via Canvas at https://coc.instructure.com. Log into Canvas using your CanyonsID single sign-on:

  • CanyonsID Username is your COC student email address (Ex: username@my.canyons.edu)

At the Canyon Country Campus the Health Center will be in the new Student Services Building.
