Asya Mazurova is a Communication Studies scholar and faculty member focusing on Public Speaking and Performance Studies. Asya earned her BA in Speech Communication at Indiana University with minors in Theater and Film and her MA in Communication Studies from California State University, Northridge with an emphasis in Performance Studies. She has now been teaching Communication courses at community college and university levels for over eightyears in Los Angeles area. She taught Communication courses at California State University,Northridge, University of Antelope Valley, and Antelope Valley College in the past. Her extracurricular work included advising and co-directing student theater productions at the University of Antelope Valley.One of the most interesting facts about Asya is that by the age of 21, she lived and studied Communications in four countries: Russia, Germany, France and the United States. She speaks 5 languages and is originally from Russia. Asya presented her paper titled Sorrow and Shine, a critical analysis and comparison of musicals Moulin Rouge (2001) and St. Louis Blues (1929) from a feminist perspective, at Annual Midwest Film Festival. Asyas professional affiliations include California Faculty Association (CFA) and Western States Communication Association. Asya is currently teaching Communication Courses at AMDA Conservatory of Musical and Dramatic Arts, Los Angeles and College of the Canyons.
