Michael Leach  MICHAEL LEACH

   Professor of Communication Studies

 

 

Michael Leach is a tenured professor in the Department of Communication Studies here at College of the Canyons. Additionally, he is also a national champion speaker and writer, having competed in intercollegiate speech competition, participating in both acting and public address events for four years in college. In his first year of competition, he was honored with the Bovero-Tabor award for being the top speaker in America by earning four gold medals. In his final year, he won a 1st place national championship for performing a multi-character multi-story program entitled, "The Life of an Actor." Michael has a Bachelor's degree in English, as well as a Master's degree in Communication Studies. In addition to his writing, speaking, and acting pursuits, Michael has also worked as a dj, window cleaner, local political consultant, photographer, sports videographer, as well as a documentary filmmaker and, if asked, Michael will even admit that he used to prepare taxes. Currently, Michael serves as the Director of the College of the Canyons Speech Team, which has won bronze, silver, and gold medals at every national tournament since he was initially hired in 2005.
