Melissa JANE Arnett grew up in Indiana. She attended David Lipscomb College, (now a University) in Nashville, Tennessee. Her first major was medical technology. She graduated from Ball State with an MA in Speech Communications and Theatre.

She moved to California and soon found an adjunct teaching position at Antelope Valley College in Lancaster. She still teaches Public Speaking and Communication Theory there.
