Dr. Heather Maclean

Heather began at COC as an adjunct in 1999. She became full-time in 2001. Originally from the UK, Heather graduated with a BA in German and Russian Literature, and then went on to teach ESL in Greece, and in the UK before spending three years teaching in Japan. She came to the United States in 1996 and completed her MA in TESOL at Monterey Institute of International Studies in 1998. Heather taught at UCLA Extension American Language Center and coordinated special programs including Practical Business English, Arts Management, on-site business programs and youth programs. In addition, she taught at Santa Monica Community College, Glendale Community College, and COC. She was a true freeway flier.

Since being at COC, Heather has had 3 children, the youngest, Princess Maggie, is now 10 and completed her doctorate in Educational Technology from Pepperdine University. Heather has always been especially interested in the use of technology in language learning.
