Rob Liddiard
Adjunct Instructor of French, U.S.A
Dr. Liddiard has been teaching French and loving every minute of it since he was 22 years old. He was born and grew up in Orem, Utah. Following two years (from 19-21) of living in France and Belgium, he pursued and received a BA in French literature and an MA in Language Acquisition at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. To further engage in the scientific study of language, he moved to Seattle, Washington where he completed a PhD is Romance Linguistics. Upon graduation from UW, Dr. Liddiard began his formal teaching career at UCLA, where he was on the French faculty for three years. Next, for four years, he was the sole French instruction at College or the Canyons. That was a very enjoyable experience, so he couldn't be happier to be back in the Modern Languages Department. Since 1998, he has taught French, Linguistics, and ESL at Glendale College (where he also is a manager in the Language Lab part-time), another rewarding place to work with students. On top of that, Dr. Rob currently handles French and/or Linguistics classes at Antelope Valley College in Lancaster and occasionally at Occidental College in Eagle Rock. He resides in North Hollywood.
Outside of the classroom past and present, Dr. Rob has been a professional actor and dancer (he traveled around the world with an international concert level folk ensemble for several years) as well as a tennis instructor (and avid Roger Federer fan). He enjoys crafts and gardening, and wishes he could travel more since exploring the world, meeting its people, and soaking in its splendor is something that brings a great deal of awe and appreciation.
