Carl and Jeri Goldman
Carl Goldman and Jeri Seratti-Goldman are dedicated to the Santa Clarita Valley and serve the community by supporting - in one way or another - nearly every non-profit group in our Valley. As owners of local AM radio station, KHTS 1220, (The call letters stand for hometown station), they have become an integral part of the fabric of our community.
Over the years, the college has benefitted from Carl and Jeris support of the performing and fine arts, coverage of athletic events, coverage of news and events associated with the college, strong advocacy for the college both in the local community as well as Sacramento, and much, much more. Carl, Jeri and their two sons have been residents of Santa Clarita since 1990. Carl was named Santa Clarita Valley "Man Of The Year" in 2008.Carl has served on the Executive Board of the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce, as Vice-President, Government Affairs. He has served on the Santa Clarita Valley Film & Tourism Committee. He also heads up the Santa Clarita Council of the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Red Cross, as well as founding and heading up the Santa Clarita Disaster Coalition. He currently serves on Advisory Boards for SCV Bank, The Michael Hoefflin Foundation, the Boys & Girls Club and the SCV Theatre Project. In addition, Carl has headed up the Committee for the Hart School District High School Honor Band Gala, and served on a special advisory committee for Providence Holy Cross Hospital and on several advisory boards and coalitions for the City of Santa Clarita.
In May 2006, Carl, through the SCV Disaster Coalition, coordinated a book drive to restock five elementary school libraries in Houma, Louisiana. The school libraries had been destroyed by Hurricane Rita. The drive produced 97,000 books which were delivered to Houma, along with over $16,000 of book credit at Borders for the school librarians to use to fill voids. The coalition won two prestigious awards from the Emergency Preparedness Commission for Los Angeles County, and the Southern California section of Emergency Services. In 2007, after the October wildfires, Carl spearheaded the Santa Clarita Disaster Coalition to work with the 31 Santa Clarita families who lost their homes during the fires. Carl has helped coordinate a number of civic projects, including a Community Recycling Program, with the City of Santa Clarita and Waste Management/Blue Barrel, along with overseeing a special Santa Clarita event connected with the annual Love Ride in November 2005. In March 2006, he organized a group of local representatives on a trip to Sacramento to give a voice for our valley with state politicians. This has now become an annual KHTS radio sponsored event. In 2005, he received the Santa Clarita Valley School Administrators Golden Apple Award. In January, 2007, Carl received the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce Individual Community Service Award.
In the past, Carl has served on a number of other local boards, including the board of the Canyon Country Chamber of Commerce, the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Santa Clarita Valley American Red Cross, Santa Claritas Michael Hoefflin Foundation for Pediatric Cancer, the College of the Canyons Foundation, the Santa Clarita Committee for the Aging; and numerous committees, and subcommittees. Carl has organized numerous blood drives for the American Red Cross and Providence Holy Cross Hospital. Carl serves on two task forces for the City of Santa Clarita including the Open Space Committee along with the TCU committee. Carl has a masters degree in communication management from the Annenberg School of Communications at the University of Southern California and a bachelors degree in mass communications from Hampshire College in Amherst, MA.
Since 1990, Jeri has been an active member in the Santa Clarita community. She is currently on the Board of Providence Holy Cross Hospital. She is one of the creators of Providences Art of Healing Campaign which involves the entire Santa Clarita elementary public school system.She served on the Board of Directors of the Child & Family Center and as Vice President of the local ROTC Booster Club. She has chaired the Child & Family Centers annual event, Taste of the Town. She was one of the original Founders of the Michael Hoefflin Foundation for Pediatric Cancer in 1994 and has served on the board and chaired many of its major fundraisers since then. She served two terms in the Sulphur Springs Elementary School Districts site council (in an elected position). She has also served in the past on the Sulphur Springs PTA, serving as its Treasurer. Jeri was the Santa Clarita Valleys 2005 Woman of the Year. Jeri has served on the Silver Spur committee for the College of the Canyons Foundation for several years.
Carl and Jeri donate thousands of hours each year to our Valleys non-profits, as well as their personal resources and auction items each year to numerous Santa Clarita charities. In addition, the radio station devotes a tremendous amount of airtime promoting the Valleys non-profits, along with giving them daily exposure at the KHTS Community Resource Station.
