Sue Walroth, MSN, BSHM, RN
1997 Director, Telemetry Services, Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Sue was born in Los Angeles, California and graduated from Polytechnic High School in June 1973. Sue raised 3 wonderful children while attending College of the Canyons, Valencia, CA. Sue still has contacts with many College of the Canyons professors and speaks highly about their nursing program. She first obtained her licensed vocational nursing degree from College of the Canyons and then bridged into their registered nursing program. While working at HMNH, Sue earned her bachelor of sciences in healthcare management from Bellevue University, and her masters of science in nursing from University of Phoenix. Sue Walroth, MSN, BSHM, RN, has been working for Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital for 20 years as an RN. Before turning to healthcare as a career, Sue Walroth held a position as an Executive Secretary. After the death of her mother she was compelled to become a nurse. In her 20 year nursing career, Sue Walroth spent 8 years as a floor nurse, 2 years as the manager of case management and the last 10 years as the medical surgical/telemetry director. As the director of a 72 bed telemetry unit, she has responsibility for a certified stroke unit, a cardiac specialties unit, an oncology unit, an inpatient wound care, inpatient ER Holding area, and dialysis. Sue's passion for creating a healthy work environment has encouraged her practice of hiring COC students every semester to enhance her units as well as their lives. She has provided many nursing students an advocate they can reach out to during their clinical rotations and after graduation. Over the years you can find her welcoming the new students to her units and introducing herself, and letting them know if they need anything, she would be glad to help. She is a true advocate for her staff and a leading role model as a nursing director. In Sue's free time she loves to camp at the beach in her RV with her husband Rick. She adores her 3 wonderful children and 7 grandchildren, while she resides in Santa Clarita, Ca.
