Sami and Steve Salvatori

1997

Sami Salvatori became a member of the track team while attending College of the Canyons, and her love of running played a pivotal role in her life. Not only did running bring her back to college, but she also met her husband Steve Salvatori while running for the Santa Clarita Runners Association. They have both been strong supporters of COC, and were instrumental in bringing a track endowment fund to the college. Sami began taking classes at COC as a single mother of three young children and completed her associate degree at College of the Canyons in 1997. She transferred to California State University, Northridge, earning her bachelors degree in psychology in 1997. She also holds the distinction of being a founding alumna of the Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center at College of the Canyons, where she earned her masters degree in counseling from the University of La Verne in 2003. Sami served as the Assistant Director of Financial Aid and was a member of the counseling faculty at COC.

Together Sami and Steve provided the support needed to the football program in 2005 to help every player who was struggling financially to receive a national championship ring for their performance during the 2004 National Championship football season. Sami and Steve have moved to Spokane, Wash., where they are retired. Together they have traveled the world with the goal to run a marathon on every continent.
