Judith & Elliott Wolfe
In 1979, Judy packed up her family and moved from Minneapolis, Minnesota to Agoura, California. In her desire to help others, she became a peer counselor at the University of Judaism. In 1985, she entered the Social Work and Gerontology programs at University of Southern California and graduated with her Masters Degree in both Social Work and Gerontology in 1987. Judy was employed as a Social Worker at St. Josephs Hospital where she was recruited by the Organization for the Needs of the Elderly (Senior Center) as director of the Adult Day Care Program. In 1993, at the senior center, founded the Intergenerational Day Care Program through $1,000,000 grant from The Mark Taper Foundation.
In 1989, she received California License in Clinical Social Work (LCSW). Received awards for Support of Caregivers in a dementia program, Credential as a Field Supervisor for Social Work interns from USC, and a commendation from that program. When she retired in 1995, she was awarded a resolution from the City of Los Angeles in recognition of her achievements.
After retirement, in 1995, moved to Palm Springs, worked at Charter Hospital with the chronically mentally ill, then at several nursing homes as a Social Worker to keep active.
Elliott graduated from the Los Angeles Sheriffs Academy in 1955, while still a student at USC, studying Public Administration. He served as a Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff before obtaining his California State License as Private Investigator. Elliott left the department and opened his own private investigation company employing 35+ employees. In 1995 he officially retired from prying,, however he is still licensed by the state. Elliott served as an investigator on many of the largest cases in California, including Charles Manson case, Audie Murphy dissolution, James/Pamela Mason dissolution, Governor Pat Brown investigation of Ronald Reagan for Governor of California, Investigation of American Nazi Party for Anti-Defamation League.
In addition, Elliott earned a Bachelor of Law Degree (now Juris Doctor) in 1967 from the San Fernando Valley College of Law, now LaVerne College of Law.
In 1998, Elliott and Judy were married, joining her passion for assisting others in need and his desire for justice. They both continued to serve the Palm Desert community until their move to Santa Clarita Valley in 2006.
While also serving other local non-profits, Judy and Elliott have worked tirelessly with Dr. Jerry Buckley to create a memo of understanding between The USC School of Social Work and COC. This partnership, created in 2016, between the two entities assists the veteran population in furthering their transition back to civilian life. Judy oversees the USC social work interns here at COC as they assist our veteran students.
In 2016, Elliott and Judys dream of assisting our local veterans became a community wide collaborative consisting of a large group of individuals, corporations, and non-profits willing to exchange ideas, and offer whatever assistance is within their province, such as jobs, training, housing, etc. The Santa Clarita Veteran Services Collaborative continues to explore ideas which can make a more productive life for those veterans and their families who have sacrificed so much. Together the group will identify current and future services, and facilitate greater access to, and knowledge of same.
In addition to their generous support of the COC Veterans Center, they have made a commitment to support the college through their personal estate. Currently, Judy & Elliott are members of the Chancellors Circle and Patrons of the Arts. They continue to support the endowment of USC School of Social Work Center for Innovative Research, and serve on their advisory board.
Elliott continues to serve as a member, Board of Directors, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriffs Foundation, as well as a volunteer with the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department.
Together, their family consists of 6 children, 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.
