Margie Anne Clark
Margie Anne Clark is a writer and advocate best known for her work as a journalist. She served as a reporter, editor, columnist and features and entertainment writer for The Signal newspaper from 2000 to 2004. She went on to serve as the managing editor for Elite Magazine and The Magazine of Santa Clarita through 2007. Clarks articles have also appeared in the Los Angeles Daily News, Los Angeles Magazine, The Simi Valley Acorn and Cowboys and Indians Magazine. Her colorful and informative stories cover the gamut of the arts and entertainment scene in Los Angeles and the Santa Clarita Valley, including interviews with Hollywood luminaries and impresarios.
Her profile stories featuring local political leaders inspired Clarks six-year civilian tour of duty with the United States House of Representatives beginning in 2008. Her work focused on advocacy between the Federal Government and the constituents of Californias 25th Congressional working with such federal agencies as the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs and U.S. Embassies around the world. Clarks advocacy on behalf of the SCV Economic Development Corporation resulted in the timely granting of the organizations nonprofit status from the Internal Revenue Service. She also served as the coordinator for the annual Congressional Art Competition in Californias 25th Congressional District.
Clark is most proud of raising her family of four with her husband Ron, whose work on Entertainment Tonight was honored with a News and Documentary Emmy Award by The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for Outstanding Individual Achievement. For her part, Clark received a certificate of recognition from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. With a talent for writing, Clark enrolled in a journalism class at COC in 1996. She earned her Associate of Arts Degree in Art, graduating with COC Honors in 1998 in tandem with raising her young family.
Clark is a lifetime member of the COC Alumni and Friends and serves on The Child and Family Center advisory committee. She has served on boards and committees of the SCV Youth Project, the SCV Press Club, the Leaders of Character, the International Family Film Festival, the Santa Clarita Valley Cotillion, Dance Studio 84, the American Youth Soccer Organization, the Boy Scouts of America, The Girl Scouts, the Certificate of Merit music program, the Model United Nations program (1997 Best Delegate Award), and the SCV Artists Association. A resident of Valencia since 1986, Clark most enjoys spending time with her growing family.
