Jan Keller
Jan Keller retired from the College after 34 years of dedicated service to community college education, as a librarian, a library technology instructor, and Dean of Learning Resources. He uplifted our spirits, and inspired many students, faculty and staff through his knowledge and guidance. His service has been characterized by personal integrity and commitment.
Jan was a founding faculty member who provided leadership to the College during the most dramatic time in its history. He helped plan and direct the construction of two new buildings on campus and the programs and the services provided by the Library, Audiovisual, Reprographics, and the Tutoring/Learning/Computing Lab. He helped to put the Library back together after both the 1971 and 1994 earthquakes. He was closely involved with the HITE/Honors Program, travel abroad, the Library/Media Technology Program, and distance learning. He has been an enthusiastic ambassador of the College to the community both locally and statewide. Jans concern for people, his wonderful and lively sense of humor, his ability to listen and his dedication to education have been very much appreciated by students and colleagues.
Jan started Library Associates, which is the oldest Foundation support group of the College. He launched the Books and Ideas series for faculty, staff and students and has initiated countless projects and programs during his tenure that have served the campus community, as well as the community at large. Jan has contributed his personal resources to a number of College scholarships, programs and projects during his 34-year tenure and subsequent to his retirement. Jan enjoys reading, classical music, and traveling with his lifelong partner, Terry.
